It's Christmas

Ho Ho Ho, it's Christmas...... I'm taking the week off. I'll see you all in January, and by the time I come back, my podcast should be up and running. So bye bye for now.

Comments:
Merry Christmas, Cody, and many blessings to you and yours! :)

Merry Christmas, Cody! :)

Previously you said that you were agnostic... so isn't Christmas just another day for you?

Also, when you said, "Ho Ho Ho, it's Christmas" -- that implies to me that you believe in Santa. When it comes to "Santa" I am not agnostic -- I don't believe he exists. I don't believe in lying to childern about the existence of "Santa" either.

Something tells me you were an only child dervish. And that you don't have kids.

Anyway, Cody freely admits to only celebrating it for the stuff, I've argued this with him more than you, I assure you.

So yeah whatever, beleted Merry Christmas to everyone, even you dervish.

Our family celebrates Christmas in a very non-religious manner.

It's still a relegious holiday you knoe, you can't escape that. I mean really...

Robert M. said... Something tells me you were an only child dervish. And that you don't have kids.

I wasn't an only child. I have 2 siblings. Sounds like you think teaching childern to believe in Santa is harmless fun. I believe that Christmas isn't about Santa (an anagram of Satan) -- It's about Jesus.

Cody O. said... Our family celebrates Christmas in a very non-religious manner.

That's fine, except that I would point out that celebrating Christmas in a "non religious" manner isn't Christmas. I'd call it "gift day".

A question for Robert M:

In another thread on this blog you said... "And if you're going to debate something you saw on my blog, do it there".

Now obviously I can't debate diddly on your blog if I am banned from your blog (which I thought I was) -- so obviously what you posted on this blog was an invitation for me to return to your blog.

Which I recently did by contributing my thoughts to your "Education, Part I" post. Twice. However, when I returned I found my comments were missing -- when I was sure they had posted. Maybe something went wrong and they never posted? So I tried again. But again my post disappeared. Am I correct in assuming that you deleted my post both times?

Why invite me to return and then delete what I post? That doesn't make any sense. BTW I do NOT think what you did was funny. I suspected that you would delete anything I posted -- even though you INVITED me to return. Whatever. I don't really care either way. Except now you've confirmed my suspicion that you're a jerk.

Actually the character Santa is a based off of a saint, thus Santa, a foreign and anglicized word for saint. It has nothing to do with Satan. But hey, believe your way, it's not my problem.

And no, I'm afraid I was not "inviting" you to my blog. Actually you can't come back to my blog. Ever. Thing is, I've been debating with some normal liberals of late. Liberals who don't act crazy. They're not all like you at all. They're just good honest people who happen to disagree with me. That's why I take the time to debate them. With those debates everyone respects each other's opinions.

You are not capable of this.

Thing is, you may think you're a great debater. And if this were a public oratory in a Roman amphitheater, you might be. But its not is it? No, blogging is more than debating along strict laws. You are, if you will allow a metaphor to serve, attempting to fight a war by the rules of chess. We don't do that here. Blogger is more of a forum. Everyone gets their say, and if it's too long or insane, it will be disregarded.

So yeah, I'm a jerk. Whatever. Lots of people think I'm a jerk. Then again lots of people think I'm a pretty good guy. I tend to agree with the latter. Point is though, I don't think one more of the former will make too much of a difference.

Bottom line is this; don't bother posting on my blog, ever. Consider yourself banned. And don’t expect me to debate you elsewhere either. Sorry, but again, I debate with those who are willing to respect me. I don't waste time on those who try to annoy and irritate. Good luck elsewhere and with your own blog, but not on mine.

Sorry to have to clutter your blog with this by the way Cody.

Robert M. said... Actually the character Santa is a based off of a saint...

You aren't telling me anything I didn't already know... but of course you think you are. Because you think you're smarter than everyone else. The bottom line is this "Santa" nonsense takes the focus off of Jesus, and places it on the selfish desire for gifts.

Robert M. Said... And no, I'm afraid I was not "inviting" you to my blog.

Well, then you should have said so when I asked you that very question here on this blog. You TOLD ME to make my points on your blog. I pointed out that I didn't want to do that because you'd probably delete my comments. You didn't confirm that you would -- so the invitation stood. I took you up on it and you rudely delted my comments. Which is why I called you a jerk.

Robert M. Said... Actually you can't come back to my blog. Ever.

Now you're acting like I actually care -- about your blog or what you think of me. If anyone is crazy it is you (Which you PROVED beyond a shadow of a doubt when you claimed that we already "won" in Iraq).

Robert M. Said... They're not all like you at all. They're just good honest people who happen to disagree with me. That's why I take the time to debate them. With those debates everyone respects each other's opinions. You are not capable of this.

You respect other people's opinions? I haven't seen any evidence of that. BTW I am capable of respecting other people's opinions -- although you can take your opinion that I'm NOT capable of respecting other's opinions and stuff it.

Robert M. Said... Thing is, you may think you're a great debater.

I thought that was YOUR belief -- that YOU are the great debater. Me, I wouldn't call my debating skills "great". It only appears that way because the arguments you present are so weak that you make me look good in comparrison.

Robert M. Said... And if this were a public oratory in a Roman amphitheater, you might be. But its not is it? No, blogging is more than debating along strict laws. Everyone gets their say, and if it's too long or insane, it will be disregarded.

Blah, blah, blah. I'm not sure what you're trying to say here -- and I don't really care.

Robert M. Said... So yeah, I'm a jerk. Whatever. Lots of people think I'm a jerk. Then again lots of people think I'm a pretty good guy. I tend to agree with the latter.

Of course you do.

Robert M. Said... Bottom line is this; don't bother posting on my blog, ever. Consider yourself banned. And don't expect me to debate you elsewhere either.

You have been. On this blog.

Robert M. Said... Sorry, but again, I debate with those who are willing to respect me. I don't waste time on those who try to annoy and irritate. Good luck elsewhere and with your own blog, but not on mine.

There is no need to be sorry since I don't give a damn. (Not that I believe you're actually sorry.)

Oh so first you're atheist, then you celebrate Christmas, now you're Jewish?

Dude,Dervish or whatever the hell your name is. All Cody did was saying he was going to celebrate Christmas and take some time off, which he did, and you come along and bash him for being agnostic, I am sorry but that is just wrong. It was the holiday season, not the midterm elections, give the bashings a break. I for one am a republican leaning 17 year old who happens to have a very good friend of the same age and is also a liberal democrat. Even though we are on opposite sides of the political spectrum we still celebrated Christmas together and enjoyed it, we did not bash eachother at all. Oh, and bashing someone on Christmas seemed more immature than my age, and how old are you....Jesus, 34? Seems to me you are way to old to act like that. Well I hope you had a merry christmas without killing Santa as he came down the chimney.
Yours truely,
Carl Langbehn.

Haha, hello Carl. Seriously, don't bother with this guy. He will not argue with you rationally. Insulting him only makes it worse anyhow.

Glad to see you on the blogs by the way. Welcome at mine anytime, and if you want to create your own, that's easy to do.

Reply to robert m.
Yeah I had the feeling this guy was a little creepy, I just thought bashing someone on christmas was just wrong. I also wanted to see what he would say back. If he does I will laugh really hard over the 1000 pages of info he sends to make me look bad.
Carl Langbehn

Well yeah, Christmas is sort of a bad time for that sort of thing isn't it?

"Carl Langbehn" said... Even though we are on opposite sides of the political spectrum we still celebrated Christmas together and enjoyed it, we did not bash eachother at all.

How is that at all relative to your claim that I "bashed" Cody? Anyway, I don't believe I did. I simply asked him why he was wishing everyone a "Merry Christmas" when he has stated that he is agnostic. Christmas IS a Christian holiday. HOW is that "bashing"?

As for your claim that bashing someone on Christmas is "just plain wrong" -- how do you explain the fact that you threw in as many baseless BS bashes against me that you could possibly come up with?

Robert M. said... Haha, hello Carl. Seriously, don't bother with this guy. He will not argue with you rationally. Insulting him only makes it worse anyhow.

I don't argue rationally? Funny, that is how I would describe your aruging style. All you do is repeat Republican talking points regardless of whatever facts you are presented with.

According to the dictionary "rational" means having or exercising reason, sound judgment, or good sense. Also being in or characterized by full possession of one's reason; sane; lucid.

Posting as "anonymous" and signing that post with the made up name "Carl Langbehn" doesn't sound like something a sane person would do.

Haha, this is great.

Hey Carl, dervish says you aren't real! I didn't know you weren't real! You should've told me at lunch today! I'm shocked frankly.

Hey Cody, did you know that Carl wasn't real? Damn, you think you know a guy...

Hey Cody, that gives me an idea. Sometime when you've got your podcast up and running, maybe we can have Carl on as a guest.

Either carl is YOU, or someone who talks to you a lot. I'm "creepy", "immature" and my posts are 1,000 pages long... those are YOUR criticisms of me. They're also total BS, and NOT conclusions anyone would come to on their own. Unless they had talked to you. Or are you.

"Hey Cody, that gives me an idea. Sometime when you've got your podcast up and running, maybe we can have Carl on as a guest."

That could work, I'm sure a few months in I'll end up getting a guest mic for some fresh voices. But then maybe that's not nessecary if Carl is you.

Haha, right. Come on Cody, if I was Carl, would I grow that beard? I don't think so. (No offense Carl.)

Robbert M., addressing my posts indirectly isn't the same as ignoring me -- which you're obviously doing now AFTER I pointed out that your claim that you wouldn't debate me elsewhere was BS. This is something an immature CHILD would do. Why don't you grow up?

What's clear from all this is that you talk about me off the message boards... I'm flattered that I've made such an impression on you.

Deeerviiishhh(sound of haunting voice) ......Deeeeeeeeerrviiish....I am Carl Langbehn and I am not real, just like you said. I am simply beyond this world, not made up by Cody or Robert. You said in your comment to me that Christmas is an exlusively Christian holiday, Well...I have come to tell you that Christmas is just a normal holiday because it is not the actual birthdate of Christ. Studies show that Jesus was born sometime during the springmonths, and that the roman catholic church made the 25th of December the birthdate of the savior to coincide with several pagan holidays of ancient Greece and Rome. Before that the most important holiday of the Christian Church was Easter. So if Christmas is not the actual birthdate of Christ, would it really matter if someone who celebrated the holiday was agnostic.

Gee Carl, and I thought you were creepy before. (What with the 48 states routine etc.)

Anyway, technically that's true. Christmas was gradually changed to allow the pagans not to have to change drastically, but still convert. But it's still a Christain holiday. Hey neat, can I call you a pagan Cody?

Does dervish still think I am not real you guys, I hope he does?
Carl Langbehn

Wow! Thanks, I didn't know that! That doesn't change the fact that Christmas IS a Christian holiday. The pagan holiday you're referring to is the Winter Solstice.

BTW, is being a stuck up smart-ass a prerequisite for being a young conservative?

Robert M. Said... Hey neat, can I call you a pagan Cody?

No. Pagans aren't agnostic.

Paganism is a term which, from a western perspective, has come to connote a broad set of spiritual or religious beliefs and practices of natural or polytheistic religions. The term can be defined broadly, to encompass many or most of the faith traditions outside the Abrahamic monotheistic group of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. This group may include the Dharmic religions, which incorporate seemingly pagan characteristics like nature-worship, idol-worship, polytheism and reverence of female deities, and are thus diametrically opposite to the Abrahamic faiths.

Does dervish still think I am not real you guys, I hope he does?
Carl Langbehn ,

I dunno. I think he does, he indicates it anyway. I think it's pretty hilarious actually. I mean I've never been told that a person I know wasn't real before. It's pretty novel don't you think?
